Post by NZJLY »

Gidday,
The engine is my 55 traveler is listed as 142663, chassis number FLE21/299574.

Is the motor supposed to be a 948 or smaller?

Thanks,
John

Your chassis number indicates manufacture between December 1954
and January 1955. Your engine would have been the 802cc OHV type
with the prefix APHM......... Your quoted engine number suggests that you have the 948cc engine. Look just behind the front engine mount, on
the crankcase, below the exhaust manifold where you may find a plate
with '950' on it.

Unfortunately I don't have the engine in the traveler, the number I quoted was from the ownership papers.
Maybe they fitted the bigger engines in the colonies before England.
Thanks for the answer

from the ownership papers.
the engine number on the documents may have been changed if the larger engine was fitted later. it should ahve the 803cc in a series 2 traveller.
