I have had two cars with the earlier round Smiths heater.
The first (1960) had an intake from the base of the front footwell, hinged to allow air in or not. The other (1958) car didn't, nor did it have any sign of an aperture in the body to suggest it ever did.
I thought there was only one heater arrangement on 1948 cars.
Anyone shed any light on this?
948 heater or 948 heater?

948 heater or 948 heater?
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Series II and 3 (=948) Smiths heaters are different, but I am not sure when they changed over.
I have a Series III matrix in my Series II housing, which is not a straight swap

heater
There was a kit available to provide a fresh air intake on these early
heaters which included a template which indicated where the metal was to be cut out of the floor panel. From car number 654750 the cars were
supplied with the floor already cut ready for the optional fresh air system.
