MOT advisory sheet

Post by rayofleamington »

When you get an MOT with advisories there is a 2nd sheet.
The main MOT sheet shows that advisories were given.

If a seller gives you the MOT sheet but there is no advisory sheet when there should be - does anyone know how to find out what the advisories are??

(yes - I've been buying cars again)

If you are the owner of the vehicle you can ask the MOT station for a duplicate

You go onto the MOT web site - www.motinfo.gov.uk
Type in your MOT details and it gives the advisories - and any items that if failed on before gaining the pass !
If you look at the back of the VT20 MOT Test Certificate it has a box on the bottom with the web site address with commment "to check the MOT status of a vehicle visit ... "

That's what I thought too, but I'd already tried that and it did'nt! It only allows me to check basic detail on your certificate (date and mileage :( )

e.g.
Registration Mark: #
Make of the vehicle: #
Model of the vehicle: #
Test Result: Certificate Issued (Pass)
Colour of the vehicle: BLUE
Date of test: 24/03/2007
Expiry date: 23/03/2008
Odometer Reading: 66338 Miles
VTS undertaking the test: 5949BW
VTS telephone number: 01753577991

This is the latest test for this vehicle.
To get the documents reprinted from the MOT station, there is a £10 fee :(

The previous owner said the advisories were just the windscreen wipers which have now been replaced - however I have a lot of reasons not to trust much/any of what I was told.

Doh!!

I needed to click the 'history' button, not the 'status' 8)

got there now!
Advisory Notice issued
Nearside Rear shock absorber has a slightly reduced damping effect (2.7.5)
Nearside Rear Upper radius arm has slight play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.3)
Offside Rear Upper radius arm has slight play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.3)
Oil leak

Thanks!

the advisories were just the windscreen wipers
Dont blame you for doubting Ray as I thought wipers were pass or fail I didnt think they were an advisory item
Cheers
