Fitted new front seat base straps today. Oh what a Difference....first time in a while since I've seen the bonnet whilst driving along (bum been on the floor)
and oh, can even see through the wing mirrors now....Next job on the list for tomorrow is to check the Valve Clearence, Dwell and Timing...ready for my Sunday Drive through the highlands....

I've been playing with my old seats recently. I've removed the straps, stuffed the seat with old pillow filling and then used a square carpet tile on the base, above the straps.
Works really well. The old Minor seat is now more comfortable than my Metro seats - however I just know its not going to be as good for my back and all that. At around 12k miles a year I'm not sure whether to try it...
What would Macgyver do..?

You'll go blind
Why not do the job properlry, it's certainly cheap enough to buy the straps and very easy to fit
certainly a lot more comfortable..

Must admit the seats do look really comfy,
I think you will find they are Newton Commercial seats that are metro based I have a pair but without the headrests are they are comfy.
Cheers
