chrome rings for smiths gauges

Post by picky »

I have collected a few smiths 52mm gauges, most of them have chrome rings like this one:

but two of them have rings that are a different style and painted black. Has anyone got any spare rings like this one? Im sure someone must sell them new also... havnt had any luck.

Also where is the best place for an oil temp sensor?

Try -

under "other products" for the dial chrome rings.

One gauge I had was painted black, but with the aid of a scraper(gently), the paint came off leaving a nice chrome ring.

unfortunately the two rings that are not chrome are also a different shape from the chrome ones i have!! just wouldnt look right having two of them a different shape. I think I can squeeze into the drivers glove box a 4" rev counter, then 2" oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, ammeter and boost gauge. :D
When I first got my minor the rear number plate cover was painted black - the chrome underneath was badly pitted and i ended up painting it again! i wonder why someone painted yours black steve if the chrome was good underneath??
