Spridget steel wheel rear axles are definitely narrower than the Minor - when I bought the Peter May half shafts I had to wait until they made a 'Minor' batch - Spridget were in stock.

Midget (steel wheel) / A35 halfshaft are the same length.
MKI A40 axle is same as A30/35 / Midget.
A40 MKII is wider and maybe same as Minor but I don't know for sure?.
going back to mollyone's question, if you want to fit an MG diff to a minor backaxle then it is a straight swap.
1969 Four door Saloon Old English White 1275 with ported head and HS4 carb. Wolseley 1500 front brakes. Currently off the road with a leaky master cylinder!
Well - learned something new today - because I always thought the Spridget used the complete Minor/A40 axle. It uses the Minor steering rack - so I wonder how that matches in with a narrower rear axle ?
Well, having tried to fit a (steel wheeled) Midget oil seal to the Minor's rear hub I can assure you they aren't the same! Fits in the hub just fine but has a smaller hole for the end of the axle.
I was wondering if the Wire rims on a mid 70's MG midget fit a 1960 Morris Traveler from the UK? I have the complete differential, axles, rims, brakes, and wire rims.
Measure the widths of the axles to settle this on-going puzzle!! It sounds a very odd conversion - generally wire wheels are to be avoided like the plague, and remember they were designed for the lightweight Spridget - not for the relatively heavy Traveller.
The spridget wires should be ok, however I would look at the possibility of 14" MGB ones, they are designed for a heavier car with more power and fit on the spridget splines. I think they are also wider
