Fund Raising adventure!

Post by webbnuts »

Whilst driving in the glorious sun the other day, i drove past a young child who was bound to a wheel chair and couldn't help think how lucky i was. This has made me want to do something to try and help out people who are less fortunate than myself. I am thinking of attempting to plan a sponsored drive perhaps, maybe from Lands End to Joan O Groats or something. Just wondering if anyone else would be interested in such an adventure in thier morris? It must be more fun to do it in convoy, and we could raise a decent stash of cash to donate to charities suggested by the drivers? Let me know what you all think, and if you would be interested in joining in?!

I've had similar thoughts myself but I know I couldnt fund the trip. That then leads to questions about whether you take some of the 'sponsorship' money to pay the actual fuel costs.
Its a bit like these foreign treks that people are always advertising for. I'm not sure I could face taking gifted money to pay for my own 'adventure', even if it was ultimately raising some money for a good cause.
What would Macgyver do..?

Lots of people collect sponsorship for charities on the Barnsley branch JOGLE (John o Groats Lands End) run every year see minor matters for details it's around the 21st of June every year

What about the LEO (Lands End to Orkney) Run. Rough details will be posted in the near future.

Very few have ever done that - having done a few trips, with people who'dve also done other trips, nobody I know has paid for their trip with donations - the money always goes to charity.

Anyway - back to the point - the Lands end to Orkney run would be ideal as everybody and his dog has already done Lands End to John O'Groats.

As Roger has suggested contact Barnsley branch as they have been doing this for some years and they welcome as many entries as possible.

No problem Kevin, unfortunately at the moment there appears to be only three of us definitely doing the run, which I think is a shame :(

Hi Bill - it think 3 definates and half a dozen maybe's is fabulous considering the limited amount of advertising...
Do you know if it's possible to get a mention into a forthcoming Minor Matters?

I have had computer problems again unfortunately, and there was even a problem getting an ad in for the Southern Regional (plug  ), but I will see if I can get just a 'one liner' squeezed in.
