I'm not feeling that myself. Sounds to me more like the usual close examination of any nice example - coupled with the usual wariness of vehicles on ebay, which is understandable really, even though some people (*cough* eg aupickup *cough*) do get just what they want via ebay :D

Always a good idea to go and look at the vehicle before bidding, isn't it. :)

Couldn't agree more ,but this thread, although possibly justified in its comments, is certainly not doing the seller any favours, nor potential purchasers who might have been put off by now :(

Yes, I can see that point of view.

I feel the "see before you buy" thing goes both ways. It's useful to weed out any lots which aren't all they seem, but also great for finding gems which other people haven't spotted. If this lot was a van, in that condition, and was near me, I'd be round there like a rat up a drainpipe.

I do feel it's natural that any Minor on ebay, particularly an unusual one, is going to be discussed on this forum - don't you think? :)

Yes ,I do, but unless its is proven that this sale is dubious then I also feel it unfair to taint the sale. Unfortunately it sometimes seems that folk only want knock others rather than focus on the positives. :(

well to any dubious folk on here, i think it is a nice example of a car, and not to be knocked.
obviously a lot of money has gone into this car, and is obviously not a £500.00 old rust bucket
you would spend more than this having a car done to this standard, just add it up for yourselfs.

all of my vans and pickups except one have come via ebay either directly or indirectly, and i do not have a problem with ebay.
it is very difficult to sell cars on ebay, so any doubters go and have a look and satisfy your own curisotity.
it is unfair to knock a seller and car unless you have seen it and the person selling it.

Green moggie

Post by COMMERCIALMAN »

I believe ive seen this car for sale a few years back and it was up for over £10000. It was at the Ally Pally show i think. If it is this car it is really nice.

BMW now dictate what British Racing Green is ? and I did say if the rebuild is good, good luck to them.

I do question why a good car would be on ebay, yes they do sometimes apear but its not a common place to sell an A1 example of any car, if its as good as it looks in the pictures it should be in a specialist saleroom or maybe a live auction to make that kind of money.

BRG, comes in many guises now, even the old BRG had two tones, if you look through the colour charts you will find loads of them both in solid or metalic. No one dictates the BRG just have their own version of it.
I agree with your second point, but it would be even more expensive if being sold professionally.

Wonder what sort of comments will be made when I decide to sell my Concours (Grand Masters), 1954, almost totally original, Series II 4 door saloon. I shall expect more than £7,500 or she stays with me  :D

So that means my offer of a tenner isn't accepted Bill

Seriously though, I think the difference with your car is the fact that it will be well known among the Moggy fraternity and you would most likely not even have to resort to advertising it as such.. I've found over the years that if it's a good car most club members will not hesitate..

 Worth a try  actually, while on my run out yesterday I went to have a look at a 52 Splitscreen which was advertised on e-bay, wonderful restored car with 3 pre; owners, history etc; I was very tempted but I did want one with a sidevalve engine... great buy though for £2. 1/2K... it would be sat on my drive now if he hadn't took the sidevalve engine out :-?

Don't blame you Bill, so I'm right in thinking the one I looked at should have had the sidevalve engine, being a 52 ?
I'm off for my tea now as I aint been in long, had a run to Ripon, the long way round, in the Moggy... you can tell summers coming, that's two days on the trot   better go and console the wife as she can smell the fish & chips on me
