Outer sill

I have a full outer undersill to fit to my series 2. The problem is that most of the way along it there is a gap of about half an inch (except at the ends of course) between the outer sill and the boxing plate. What can I do about it? I cannot bend the sill inwards to meet the boxing plate as this would obviously distort the outer sill. Do I have to put a filler plate in to bridge the gap? Why is there a gap anyway?

Any hepl will be greatly appreciated

Lo, do you not have a diagram of the body layout??

Yes please, I would like a copy of the body layout. I might already have the diagram but none of the one I have show how the sill area parts go together. This might not explain the gap that I have though, will it?
