speedometer wiring

Post by Pascal »

Hi,

Can anybody tell me where each wire goes at the back of the speedometer (colour + location)?

When I switch the ignition on, should both the oil pressure light and oil filter light be on, or just the oil pressure light? At the moment only one comes on, which I suspect is the oil pressure one as it has a green+green/brown wire. The one with a green+green/yellow wire doesn't come on.

The driver's handbook says later models are not fitted with an oil filter warning light, however mine has a bulb wired. I've check the oil filter but couldn't see any wire connected to it, though there's a free green/yellow wire next to the oil filter with nowhere to connect to.

Ours has a light and bulb fitted and also a wire down into the engine bay but No filter terminal so no light working. There will probably be loose wire somewhere in the engine bay for it.

The oil filter light ceased to be fitted in 'late 1969'

But the wire *seems* to have been simply left there thereafter.

The wiring looms were changed a couple of times, weren't they?..

Only to add flashing turn signals then the change from 3 wire rear lights to 4 wire, otherwise they were pretty much the same.
