I have bought a set of +20 1098 hepolite pistons for my engine rebuild project from ebay. They have rings and circlips fitted but I'm unsure if it's a good idea to re-use them. I want this engine to last a reasonable length of time and would rather get it right first time!
The seller said that the engine they were removed from was only run for 57 miles as it had a head gasket failure and the top of the block was found to be distorted. Does this mean that it's OK to re-use the rings and circlips as they've only been run for a short while or should I fit new ones just to be sure? The information sheet that came with the pistons states at the top "always use new circlips".

OK thanks for that Roger. I haven't had the block re-bored yet but when I do I may well be in touch.
