URGENT - spares info required

Post by millerman »

Have just visited the local scrap yard and they have a Maestro Clubman, K reg, to be crushed on Monday; so what spares are worth removing for the Minor with 1098 engine and a 1275 (not A plus) about to be fitted?

At this stage I shall have the alternator but is it worthwhile have the head complete with carb and manifold. Is the head likely to be unleaded?

I look forward to your comments. If you are desperate for other Maestro bits let me know.

Cheers all

Mechanical fuel pump*. front pulleys, distributor and electronic ignition. The inlet manifold, btw, bends 90 degrees and puts the carb over the engine :D Rocker cover has a long tube on the top and is quite fun

*for me, if it's going spare

As it's K-reg then the head will be unleaded and compatible with the 1275 engine you're about to fit.

If you can, grab the whole engine. It'll be a source of A+ pistons and rods if nothing else, and I think Jonathon mentioned something about adapting those engines to rwd as well, but I could be wrong.

If nothing else, then anything bolted to it as said - Iginition, head, carb (inlet manifold is useless but the brackety bit is needed for the carb), alternator etc. If the crappys prices are right I'd be looking to at most leave just a very stripped block (could probably even get the pistons and rods out) bolted to the car :)

Take the whole engine !! It can be used in a Minor - maybe not direct swap, but it can be used.

I removed the head; unleaded according to engine number, HIF 44 carb, electronic dizzy and coil, fuel pump and alternator so I am quite pleased with my haul.

Anyone interested in the dizzy and coil which will fit the A+ 1275 engine?

Thanks for the previous advice.

You should have grabbed the crank damper too! The block can be easily used in a Mini.
