I have a spare 1098 and don't know it's origin. I was under the impression it was a bog-standard Minor unit but closer inspection reveals a 12G295 head (whoopee! I've got 2 now!!).
I'm aware of the cars that originally had these but does the engine match?
No is 10MA-U-H 299644.
I'd be particularly interested to know if it has the larger crank bearings.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
But for all purposes other than competition use - it makes no odds!. Provided the engine either has high compression pistons fitted - or the head has been skimmed down to raise the compression ratio - the other details of the engines (cam etc) are the same. Measure the head thickness - they all start at 2.750 as standard. If your's is less -then that's the amount that has been skimmed off. If it's not been skimmed - and the engine does not have high CR pistons fitted, then the CR will be quite low and the performance not much better than standard!
