My ramblings !

Post by paulhumphries »

As much as I like my 2 door I've realised that a van is more is more useful to me.
Looking in this months Minor Matters I see someone is selling an Austin van with a "rare" fibreglass back.
This has started me thinking.
Other than the dealer who is selling a new chassis with reconditioned cab and fibreglass back is there any other supplier of new fibreglass van backs ?

Thanks.

I've too many projects at present to consider another.
I can see in the future though a Minor van joining the fleet :D
From what I can gather the rear body is often in poor state the hence original thread wondering if there was a fibreglass version made OTHER than the one complete with chassis and rebuilt cab.

Hi paul,

REALLY annoyingly no one will supply just the cargo area in fibreglass - yet. Birmingham only sell them as part of their "new van" setup - but have plans to eventually make just the backs available.

Fibreglass backs for vans are such a great idea, they are where all the trouble starts and you just can't get good ones any more (in my experience)

This is based on my investigations in spring last year - maybe the situation will have changed by now :)

*welcomes another person to the world of sanity which is Minor LCVs and buys you a pint of whatever* :D

james I'm PMing you with the details of the van in Minor Matters.... be aware that the fibreglass backs made in the past vary a bit in quality, you'll need to ask for details and do a bit of detective work I think :)

Henrics used to do a glassfibre back, wonder if its the same as Nordisk, or if Phil still has the moulds.
