Suspect faulty dynamo

Post by dougie700 »

hi all, i have an electrical fault, I recently changed my morris from pos earth to neg earth. It starts and the red light goes out, but with an avo across the battery terms it is onlyreading 11.55volts.

My ampmeter is saying greater than 30amps charge(but i don't trust it).

There is also a clicking noise from wot i suspect to be the heater wich is drawing @ .8 of a volt on the meter. the engine is at the momment sat ticking over no problems. Not sure wot i should be getting across the battery with the charging system running but would have thought it should have been greater than 12volts.

Any help out there would be appreaciated

thanxs

Yes, would expect at least 13.5 volts across the battery under charge.
Was it the same before you converted? The dynamo should not be capable of supplying 30 amps!! Re the clicking noise from the heater?
if the heater is turned off this would disappear if it IS the heater. Are you sure it isn't the normal clicking of the petrol pump.
