Minor holidays

Post by Pascal »

Hi,

I've just bought a 1970 moggy which is in good condition and am considering take it on a trip from London to Ireland in April (circa 800-1000 miles return).

I'm not sure undertaking such a long journey with this old lady is very wise; but I would love it. Does anybody have recommendations about:

- what tools & supplies to take on the trip
- what periodic checks to do during the trip

To start with I'm going to give it a full service and inspection by a Minor specialist.

Regards,
Pascal

how lovely, pascal! i can't think of anything nicer than touring in a Minor. I've not been to Ireland so I am jealous. I'd love to take my van up round the coast of Scotland when it's back on the road.

I haven't seen the thread Onne mentions so can't help with answering your questions. You should definitely take chocolate. :D

Hi Pascal have a look for the MOT (Minors on Tour) that is run every year into Europe mainly France and Germany and they generally cover a couple of thousand miles and then there is the JOGLE (John O`groats to Lands End) done in a 24hr period also covering a fair mileage, so as long as you car is well maintained you should not have any trouble.
If you have a look there have been a few threads on what spares to carry.
Cheers

I would whole heartedly recommend MOT, and don't forget the possibility of a LEO (Lands End to Orkney) run this year, if there's enough interest.

If anyone is up my way on holiday, they would be most welcome to have a pit-stop for a cup of tea and a chat.
