guys when i put my battery in my lovely new repainted battery tray i want to line the tray to prevent any accidents damaging the paint (understatement )
I know Frost etc sell clever battery tray liner material but it's a horrid yellowy colour with printing all over it. I want mine to be nice and plain, and preferably black.
Any (reasonably sensible...) ideas as to what I can line the tray with?
I'd go for a rubber mat of some sorts. That looks quite neat and tidy

Try 'Noise killer' they supply excellent sound deadening ,carpet and rubber mat products. Sorry do not have a number but will look tommorow if you get stuck. As Onne says go for a sized rubber mat, on both the back and bottom of the tray.
I use a normal one... there aren't any leaks with most modern batteries anyway, as they are sort of maintanance free, in other words the water doesn't need to be topped up.

ONNE, a friendly warning, if your 'Maintenance Free' battery still has access to the cells then have a look. After a warning on this board I checked my Maintenance free cells and it took nearly 1/2 a litre to top
them up! I now check annually and the battery is now eight years old.
I fully agree with you Willie, I checked my old dead (so called) maintenance free battery.
That was ready to go BOOM, it was already a bit on the hot side (hot to the touch...) and I guess it also had a fair bit of pressure inside causing it to bellow.

wibble, i used tool box tray liner for my battery tray. I know yours is already painted, but I stripped off the old gunk and re painted, the lining stops the battery damaging the paint as you drop it in.
