Just a silly question. How useful would it be to have his book on tuning the A series?

If you have an A series engine, Quite useful. If you don't have an A series engine, Not very useful.

It is an interesting read anyway.

Not a silly question as its the best book available for tuning any `A` series engine, and not just for performance there are also bits on economy and its spelt Vizzard and often comes up on ebay but dont pay too much as its still available new.

It's very useful if you want to know the theory and reasoning behind the various modifications you can do to an engine and the way they interact. However, because it is THE definitive guide it is heavy going in places and much of it has little relevance to affordable, home tuning. Nevertheless there are some very handy bits in there like the section that deals with staged, bolt on modifications.

Even if you don't have an A series a lot of the theory still applies. And if you do have an A series the theory gives you a better understanding, but the info is invaluable IMO.

Buy it, read it. Read it again. And again. Then realise scatter cams and ceramic coating will never happen on your budget, so apply the theory and data to skip diving for exhaust bits and trawling through Feebay for cheapo go faster goodies :)

I can highly recommend this book, it explains every detail you could possibly want to know about the A series engine. As Peetee said it is not exactly bed time reading in places, but a worthwhile purchase.

Actually Vizard.

His book (and ANY words he writes) are worth reading. If you are even thinking of doing any engine tuning or modifications, however basic, buy Tuning Bl`s A Series Engine. It is the best book I have ever read on tuning any engine. However it is only any good if you understand and follow his advice.......... so many people dont.

Buy it.
