Is this an original yellow

Post by ptitterington »

Hello,
A young lady inherited this car from her gran and ran it till the engine died. I have just purchased it as a project especially as it is a 1963 just like me!
I thought it was a DIY paint colour, but the whole car is painted so I think it is original. Just have never seen one this colour which is not so strange living on Jersey.

I'm almost sure it is, I think it's Highway yellow, someone will no doubt confirm it shortly..
There's one in my area, parked at the Moggy dealership. Just to the right of mine..

That may well be it and the car is old stock that found its way to Jersey?

Highway yellow is a rare colour. I think it was introduced in October '61 and discontinued in early '63.

All highway yellow cars had a duotone blue / silver interior.

ptitterington - what colour is the interior in yours?

Sorry to disagree but Highway Yellow had the same colour interior as the Smoke Grey and Trafalgar Blue cars of the same time Blue - Grey

I've only ever seen two highway yellow cars and both had the duotone interior. Perhaps it was available as an option on deluxe models ?

Well I got the paperwork today and the car is Jan 1962 so that fits in. The interior is grey leather seats and grey plastic trim to doors etc.

Still will look good when done.

Awesome! Highway yellow. We (well I) love highway yellow. It's not as nice as trafalgar blue, of course, but it's a fantastic colour :-)
