Leaking Series MM Gearbox
I hope someone can advise! My Series MM has been worked on over the last few years and as the time draws nearer for use I thought I would top up the gearbox which was down on level. However now I have topped up it seems to leak (without being driven) and drip out the hole in the bottom of the gearbox bell housing. The level, when correct, is nowhere near the input shaft level, but looking at the manual it seems like the layshaft bore goes from the gearbox body into the bell housing area, possibly relying on an interference fit between the shaft and the casting to seal it. Could my oil be escaping through this? Is it sealed? Can it be sealed?

I never thought of the gasket leaking but I am surprised the oil level is that high while stationary. I was going to take the dipstick out and actualy measure the oil level with respect to the gearbox innards. Looking at the official workshop manual the layshaft does in fact start off in the bell housing with an oil drilling up the centre which seems to be plugged with a screw all of which I guess could leak.
