I kinda ended up taking my mog off roading last night, i was told that it was a "bobable" greenlane... which it was kind of. Anyways my car is now covered in mud and gravel and is in need of a wash! I didn't know minors were so good off road! Ant got his micra stuck and it lost the heat shield for the exhaust which i picked up for him , i also pulled him out but now i have a slightly bent rear bumber blade...
didnt get home til midnight and was a 100 mile round trip...

Oct 06: back from Dresden with my Trabant 601 Kombi
Jan 07: back from a month thru North Africa (via Timbuktu) in a S3 Landy
June 07 - back from Zwickau Trabi Treffen
Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block
actually link #1: it was a sand dune - not a road ;-)
The other links were either track or where a road used to be, but they weren't part of the off-road section.
We did 3 days off road in Mauritinia with just sand and rock - apart from 50km of 'beach highway' at the end of the 3rd day (not a road except by African standards as it is just sea, surf and sand).
Every single moment was great fun, and with the Minor's lack of weight and reasonable ground clearance we coped with it pretty well. A bit more power would have made the 'powder sand' areas a lot easier, but you just have to use more momentum to make up for the lack of speed. The cars with less ground clearance were bogged in pretty quickly.

I was truly astonished at how good she was off road, virtually bounding up those mountain tracks, I actually found that I would gain on more modern cars, 'cos I had way more ground clearance and just seemed to be able to handle the rough roads way better.
So, yes, Yay for mogs off road. They rock

That's Coppermines Hostel, right? I stayed there a few times, it was great. Small hostels are generally better.
Next challenge is to drive to Black Sail You'll need permission to drive through the forest, but it's fun. When I used to stay there the warden, an Aussie called Mick, owned an orange Beetle which he took up that road very week...
I love the Lake District, it's my favourite place anywhere.
I off road every weekend in mine, driving across a display field to park
Don't know about proper offroading, I wouldn't put my classics through that but I do drive regular along some roads like in Kate's photo.. ( nice shot Kate )
My Moggy is more ' Off motorway'
Kate,
I must admit we like the Coppermines, though our group uses the Mountaineering hut (I forget the actual owners just now),
Usually it's trying to find the hut at the end of an unmade road, at midnight using a torch and a 25000 OS map!
Haven't taken the Mog to one yet ...
