ok I agree it's a bit confusing but yes it is strange seized in all positions except 1st which is selected in roughly the reverse's postion. the "H" pattern seems to have disappeared and there is no neutral.
explanations please or we will have to wait for stripdown in about a weeks time.the new one is a 1275 midget box I understand they are a bit more sturdy and have a higher 1st and 2nd ratios. is that true and does it have syncromesh on !st?

Do you have the lates Minor Matters? In tech tips there is an explanation of what to do if the gearbox intenrals decide to jam 1st gear in place. I'm guessing that if 1st gear is unable to disengage, then if you engage another gear the geabox will be blocked?thanks everyone! all I have got to do now is take out the seized in all gears except 1st one and we've cracked it.
Maybe a long shot, but it would be interesting to know if these problems are related.
I have a couple of gearboxes around but my scales are pretty random so not within 10kg! 21kg sounds about right as they are heavy but certainly not too heavy to pick up and carry.
