As far as I know there is only one sort for a 1969 car. Originals were metal, but plastic ones are also now available. If the original metal bowl has rusted into pieces it's likely your wing isn't long for this world either...
Oh thanks Chris. Plastic one sounds a good idea. Strangely the wing seems alright really, although I havnt actually taken the old headlight bowl off yet - I'll probably find it takes a ring of wing with it!
You might be lucky, but don't expect miracles. Usually rusting in this area is due to liquid mud & debris thrown up by the wheel, which clings all round the headlight bowl. You may need a new rubber ring like this one as well.
I replaced one gasket last weekend and luckily there was no rust on the headlight bowl. Hopefully the other bowl will be in the same condition when I change the other gasket tomorrow
I'm hoping the plastic headlight bowl i ordered will come with its own gasket, although it never says things like that on esm. I am going on the fact I ordered some hockey sticks from them earlier: It doesn't say whether or not they come with nuts, so I also ordered some of those; and then they arrived and I found they do come with them afterall. Just hoping this follows the same rule.
