re-wiring nightmare

Post by TheLaird »

Good day all.

Iv encountered a bit of a problem whilst re-wiring the rear lights on my 1958 saloon, I re-wired the left hand rear light and also replaced the red wire and purple/green running to the right as these had gone brittle, everything lovely so far...

only...

The rear L/H light still doesn't work, and also now the fuel gauge, trafficators and oil light have stopped working so I have no idea what I'v done there, also the break lights don't come on but I'm assuming this is a switch problem.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

It's also a sacrifice to the great god of irony as the m.o.t is tomorrow, Hurrah!

Ah - always best to leave these awkward jobs to the last minute! Sounds like it could be an earthing problem and/or you have blown the fuse which supplies all these features.

Last minute is the only way :)

It was the earth indeed, I don't think i hooked up the wires properly to the light so i disconnected it and everything works again, hoorah!

Thanks for the advice

Now onwards, to fail the m.o.t! :D
