Leaking windscreen wipers

Post by Onne »

I am trying to make my '55 a tad more watertight

What should I replace? Is there a gasket?

My 54 hasn't got any gaskets, and the MM is different alltogether.

Surely it must be possible to get them watertight?

Onee, your '55 will use the same gaskets as the 1000.

The Series MM uses grommets to seal the wiper spildles.

esm do the rubbers to go at the base of the wiper arm where it joins the body for 35p each, as my moggy leaks from there too.

Al
Thanks

Is there anything else that can be done to waterproof a moggy? My mate used silicone gel in a mastik gun on his VW Beetle? Is he silly or is this a sound way of doing the job???

leaky

Post by Willie »

MAGUIRE, the usual places to check for water leakage into the car from the windscreen area are: the wiper bosses(gaskets) the bonnet hinges
where they connect to the body, not the bonnnet, (gaskets and the fixing
nut) this nut is awkward to access and you are advised to tie a long piece
of string to the spanner because if you drop it it will disappear into the
A pillar! Finally, the windscreen rubber itself can leak but should be easy to spot.
