My 17 year old daughter is the proud owner of a 1953 Morris minor. She is learning to drive and trying to sort out insurance. Any advice or pointers in the right direction would be greatly recieved.
Only way I managed insurance for 17 year old in a Mini was through CIS - with me as 'main' driver and daughter as 'additional' driver. This is fine while she is learning - perhaps not so good if/when she passes test and is doing more miles in the car than you.
When me and Dan were learning nearly 5 years ago we learnt in a trav. Lots of people were quoting £1300 plus tpft. We ended up with footman james at around £400
Last year I insured my son's minor with AON through the owner's club scheme. He was 18 on a provisional licence. With me as the named driver and him as an additional that was £340. Fully comp.
I'm a single mum and don't drive myself so it's proving to be a bit pricey. £1007 the best so far! Looks as though she'll have to insure her after she passes. Shame as she cant wait to have a go!
OK- The problem seems to lie with the fact that Bertha has a 1098 engine (as stated on the log book) but the insurance companies cannot quote on a 1956 with that engine size. This girl is getting more and more puzzled!!
I know the problem with the 1098 powered Series IIs. I wonder what they want me to pay next year
