No.1 on the first registration...
Now it may seem that I might have a little too much time on my hands, but I was just wondering if anyone has ever bothered to find out what was the number 1 single in the uk charts at the time of their cars registration.
A little checking up on the 12th of August 1964 showed that it was
The Beatles ' A Hard Day's Night' which was great!! being as it is one of my fav songs.
Anyway forgive me but I thought it was interesting and adds a little bit more history to the whole thing...

Never as standard, but I think an option from somewhere in the run of the Series II.
The Ninth edition of the Operation Manual (Series II Saloon and Traveller) shows one fitted.
The started in 52 as far as I can find out with charts.
So, when Isabelle (June 54) was registered:
Johnnie Ray with 'Such a Night'
Elisabeth (Nov 1955)
Johnston Brothers with 'Hernando's hideaway'
Onne

For Wifey's Trav it was "Lily the Pink" by the Scaffold (December '68 ) and for mine it was "It's not Unusual" by Tom Jones (March '65).
Excellent.
Ben, I like your sig quote. The other version is: "Catch a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will buy a silly hat."
