Pressure plate question

Hi Guys (and guyettes)

A question about clutch pressure plates. I have searched, and if the answer is already here I can't have used the correct search words.

I am fitting a 1100 motor and box to my (950) Morrie. On checking the clutch plate, there are some small fractures in the pressure plate. No worries I thought, I check a spare 950 pressure plate I had laying round, and it has these minute cracks as well.

Is this a common occurrence, and can I still use it? It has extra springs, but is the same size as the 950 clutch, so assume it is a rebore with a new 1100 plate fitted

The 1098 engine should have a larger diameter clutch than the 948. If it's not too badly scored I would just use it - the little 'crazing' or cracking is quite normal. But if it's horribly 'blued' and the friction plate is worn - it may indicate that it's been slipping.

Cool, it is not too bad, the clutch plate looks nearly new as well . I assume the engine has been bored out, but it has much better compression than the one in Olive currently. And our national meet is only a month away

Ecurie Ecosse was originally a Scotish based racing team most well know for their success with Jags in the past but you do see Ecurie & Ecosse on some of BMC`s special tuning departments badges so I think there is a link somewhere (as he`s a scotsman called roy)

Ecosse is of course Scotland - and my specialised subject is BMC - hence the name. I am Miniecosse elsewhere !! ( Ecurie = team )
