headlights

hi car was sat for about a week and have now lost main beam headlights when i pushnthe switch i get no lights at all and no light on the speedo as well

Does the horn still work? Do the dipped headlights still work? Does the starter turn the engine over?

Speedo light - check the instrument light switch under the dash (below and to the right of ignition key switch, slides left to right to turn speedo lights on and off. Do side lights work? If NO then check the inline fuse with red wires on the engine side of the bulkhead (NOT in the fusebox). If both main beams out then check wires from dip switch. If NO lights at all then check feed to the light switch.

Also, has NAYTHING been done to the cars whilst it is standing - it's amazing what cause and effect relationships can build up!

Try tracking the main beam wire (blue and yellow IIRC) from the footswitch and make sure it is all connected properly. There is a bullet connection under the driver's side glove box that can become disconnected if disturbed (speaking from experience!!)

Do any of the electrics work?

Where did you leave the car?

My first thoughts are "dead battery"

If there is some electrical life, then it's a job of chasing down the cables ....

And a friend of mine had her Citroen C3 put out of action by mice/rats - apparently the insulation is a favourite of theirs
