fan belt length 1275 engine

Post by honda90 »

I have just fitted my 1275 A+ engine in my traveller today. The fan belt I had fitted on my 1098 engine fitted with alternator was 825 in length, is just a bit to short to fit, what size fan belt should I fit on 1275 engine fitted with alternator?

The engine may have the larger diameter water pump pulley fitted - hence the longer belt. I use 825 belts on both my engines. i think if you could get the 825 belt over the pulley - it would be fine in use. The extra 13mm is hardly significant!

Couldn't get my 825 belt over the alternator pulley even with the aid of a screwdriver, however just bought 838 belt today and was able to coax it over the alternator pulley with a bit of persuasion with a screwdriver.

Excellent. Sometimes the alternator sliding bracket can be elongated slightly to allow the alternator to move closer to the block - to let the belt slide over the rim. Perhaps good idea to buy a spare belt too !
