I don't know if this is a problem anyone else has had. But my almost new indicator/flasher unit had been filling up with water and knackering the sidelight buld and causing horrible corrosion at the contacts. This was despite good new gaskets and the lens being sealed up.
The problem turned out to be where the inserts of metal to hold the lamps had been pushed in. They were not flush enough to stop water ingress where they are soaked by the front wheels. So removing them and sealing the gaps with silicone has solved the problem and the insides remin bone dry.
This is perhaps worth doing on any new light/flasher units as I know they can get rather rusty and damp.
