Looks dodge to me!! Would you seriously allow a car that has £17,000 worth of receipts to go for £670.00 on ebay? Hmmmm

yeah i thk its a bit dodgy as well, why spend that much on the engine work and not touch the body or have a decent camera to share the photos. i say spend 80 quid on a cheapy digital cam and it may be easier to sell. nice convertible Kisten.... not interested in a p/x are you? i want a convertible to take to florida with me in Feb.

No guys, its cosher.

Receipts actually add upto around 17grand as a new engine, gearbox and turbo were used when it was profesionally converted by a big Minor/Mini company in Norfolk area about 5-7 years ago. The car hasn't been used for the past 2 years and has just been parked up-hence the seized clutch!

Even if you dont think its worth 670 odd quid....just look at how much Minilites plus new tyres are going for, do a search on Metro turbo engine or Garrat turbo, Recaro seats (old capri types - usually worth more than the cars their fitted to!), Theres lots of discussion about how much the J5 Ford sierra gearbox kits plus gearbox (also new item) go for a couple of bellhousing've sold revently for 3 figure sums), the disc breaks also cost a fair bit, car cover (taylored to traveller shape).

If you start adding it up it comes to a fair old whack!

Just wondering how bad the wood will be! Im wondering wether ifs its terminal it'll be worth cutting the roof off and havein a convertible trav turbo!

Me bid on it......But ive already got a Traveller and 2 door saloon....a Mitsubishi FTO and Two fiat pandas.

I think that a certain midlands company could have built a complete modified car for that money, unless of course the old owner was a lottery winner and not bothered about the bodywork

This Traveller was certainly worth that £670 for the parts - and if he really spent that cash on it in the past - he must be stark raving mad. For that money you could have a really top classic car - not a hotted up rusty Minor!! Just look at the drop plates showing at the rear to try to get the car to sit up !!

How do you fit disc brakes to back of a Minor? I thought you couldnt fit a MG Metro engine to a Minor. Something to do with crankshaft and rear oil seal to name just two reasons.

I'd imagine that it probably a midget engine with the head and turbo, ancillaries from a Metro turbo. A company Frontline Costello does a rear disc kit for the midget which should fit the Minor. You can also fit discs to the back of the Escort Mk11 if you have one fitted. Not heard of a Marina conversion though, but I'm sure enything is possible with a bit of knowledge and inginuity

Depending on which uprated axle you use it can be done easily with an off-the-shelf kit. However I've never heard good reports of rear disk brakes on a Minor. I've discussed it with 2 people who fitted them and both then had to fit a brake balance valve to reduce the rear braking.

I've got an Ital engine fitted with the Metro turbo. Just in the early stages of working out what's going on with it.

Anybody got power figures for the MG Metro turbo?

You can make the power almost anything you want - by changing the cam and the head - and by fiddling with the controls for the wastegate - until it goes BANG of course! Mr Vizard has a large section on all this in his excellent book - I commend you to it.

90bhp and 85ft/lb according to Vizard, but it was set at a fairly low level because the Metro gearbox is quite weak. If you're using the Ford type 9 then you'll have no such problem.

Axle strength and location are the next objectives.
