Southampton to Kelmarsh 145 miles
Newcastle upon Tyne to Kelmarsh 210 miles
I'm almost willing to bet that its quicker from Newcastle - it is down hill all said and done.
More important though, chez Rust to Kelmarsh 26 miles

Hi Mal as simmitc said there was a good presentation at the AGM about the viabilty of National Rallys as they cost £12 - 15,000 to put on and to hit a break even point they really need 750 to attend and if they are put on away from middle England the attendances only make around 500 Scunthorpe and Breamore House to quote the 2 recent ones and although Scunthorpe almost broke even Breamore House made a huge loss around £9,000 so you can see if the membership are not going to attend these other venues they have to put them on where they can be assured of a good turnout, so you have to see it from the clubs point of view that if the local membership dont attend in force to a Rally they really have to put them on in locations where the can get a good turnout and like a few others on here I go to the Nationals wherever they are held
So I am afraid its unlikely to be in your neck of the woods Mal

They didn't have it near you Mal as they knew you wouldn't pay to get inmal wrote:Ah well... down south again![]()
Mal

2006 National was in Scunthorpe - hardly North
It was announced yesterday that from now onwards the National Rally would be held in the centralish part of the country as they get more attendees & therefore can cover all the organising costs.

Thanks for info re national Rally.
Why wasn't the membership told of previous losses, this sort of info helps everyone understand why venues are decided on and certainly gives me a better understanding of the problems (challenges?) the Committe has. Presumably the member's area of a re-vamped website will carry minutes and reports of meetings and sub-committees

they were - but only when the accounts are completed... and the finances aren't generally discussed with membrs except at the AGM, which is ok if you can get there. Why wasn't the membership told of previous losses,
Apparently you can get minutes by request (snail mail) from Derby office.
Don't worry - we pushed that point quite a few times, and I is very likely to be part of the suggestions list that gets turned into actions by the new web-team.Presumably the member's area of a re-vamped website will carry minutes and reports of meetings and sub-committees
