Does anyone know if it is possible to buy new steering rack dampers??

On the steering racks there are two spring loaded pads which prevent rattle.
They are adjusted by removal of shims but eventually wear out.

Well I've never managed to find any! esm don't list them, but maybe worth a call. When leyland dealers still had spares for the morris, one once informed me that the small damper was no longer available then! I suppose they could be made at a push.

Put this another way, if you can't get the dampers, what do you do if your steering rack rattles?

1. make sure it had EP oil in it! then 2. fit an exchange unit.
