Boot lid rubber

Post by millerman »

Which is the best glue for sticking the rubber seal on a boot lid? I usually use Evostick or similar.

Hoping to win the best boot lid competition at the Website Rally!!

I haven't used it for that specific application, but Sikaflex adhesive sealant is brilliant stuff. Just try really hard not to get any on stuff you don't want it on (like your hands!).

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

I've used spray on adhesive that you use for carpet fiting. you can spray a very thin coat, then there is a hope of getting it off later.
Best bootlid comp - whose been talking?

Bostik contact adhesive is good apply to both rubber and lid then when tacky stick it and close the lid. I used this stuff as it doesnt react with paint and sticks solid.

May I add my tuppence worth?

Change to the earlier style, with the rubber on the body, not on the boot lid. No need for sticky situations :D

Its does seem to form a better seal and isnt as difficult to fit, but for originality the bootlid mounted one is the one to have.
