FAN BELT LENGTH - Urgent help needed please

Post by dnac »

Please help, the moggy decided this morning that it was not getting enough breakfast, so ate its fan belt

I can take the old one to the motor factors as it has a lump out of it. :(

It has an alternator conversion on it, does anyone have a clue what length I should go for please.

I really need to get this at dinner time so I can get home tonight !!

Thanks

Can't help you myself, but why not ring someone like ESM? They sell fanbelts for Minor with alternators so they'd know the right one.

And when you find out, buy two...

You could go for halfords and find a fan belt for a mini 1000 with an alternator. Thats what I did for mine. They have a little book showing which belt to use for which car.

beware - the later Mini engine has a larger diameter water pump pulley and so the Mini belt may be too long.

There should be a number on the old belt stating its length

Quintin Hazell QBA 825 or Powertrain PCFB 825 if that's any help.
The 825 refers to the length in millimetres, width 10mm.

Although I bought a mini fan belt I used the original dynamo size one on mine. It fits fine and the alternator is midway through its adjustment. You may find the standard size fine.
