Cellulose paint

well, I would be aiming to get the car sprayed in about 18 months. Unfortunatly that is the last job on the list...

According to the Practical classics article and the FBHVC (phone them up!, they know whats what) celly WILL be available in the future, much in the same way as coach enamel still is for 1930's and before classics.

Licenses will be granted per car, and anyway, spray cans of celly will still be available, so you could paint your car with lots of aerosols., or do local repairs in the same way.

I agree, though, I wanted to leave the EU since 1973 and nothing has changed my mind about that.

It's not clear to me that you'll be able to get a license unless you can prove your car was originally finished in cellulose and you need the paint to restore it to original condition (and does that mean you have to use the same colour it left the factory with?). We don't know yet how much the license will cost yet either.

That's good to know, providing we'll still be able to get cans of the more unusual colours. I wouldn't want to respray a whole car with cans but it would be a practical solution for touching up individual panels.

I would hope that the likes of BM and ESM can continue to supply Celly in the right colours in aerosol cans. I agree, tedious to re-spray a whole car with cans (and much more expensive) but it could be done and would be bettre than the alternatives (hammerite minors, household gloss paint, chassis black, brush painted enamel etc)

My brother once got quite annoyed with me because I washed his knackered old Fiesta - his theory being that the worse it looked the less chance there was of anyone bothering to nick it.

Yes I have a friend like that. I washed his car and he went ballistic. It turned out under the inches of grime (slight exaggeration) were loads of little multi coloured spots.
