i have some problem with the breaking system on my car, i have to pump the peddle twice or even more and i can't stop the car instanly if in an emergency situation ( the car is still using the original master pump ). my friend advise me to change to the modern master pump but the cost for the installation is to high (i'm still a student) and i think i just want to install it by my self. also he said that, if i still want to use the original master pump it will not last long. can someone give me the manual of the original breaking system and give me some advice about the problem

Ok - it's brakes - to stop the car. They probably just need adjusting up so the shoes are almost but not quite rubbing on the drums. Take each wheel off and adjust each one up (screwdriver through small hole in drum engages with slot in 'snail' adjuster) until the drum won't turn by hand - then back off one click. If the pedal is still long - then you should try bleeding the brakes to remove any air from the fluid - and keep the master cylinder (your 'pump') well topped up with new fluid - NOT the old stuff. If the brakes are still no good - then overhaul is needed - with new cylinders and new shoes. Try the easy stuff first.

The master pump is still working ok if you can press on the pedal and it does
not slowly go down to the floor. The 'modern' pump has a slightly smaller bore than the original type (13/16" bore instead of the earlier 7/8" bore)which
is marked on the outer casting, but I doubt that you would notice any great
difference. If the pedal goes down a long way on the first stroke but still feels
hard then you probably need to adjust the brake shoes as BMC says. If the
pedal feels spongy you probably have air in the system.

It' s very simple - pipe runs from master cylinder forward to X piece where it splits left and right, and has pressure switch to bring on the brake lights. Pipe also runs back from the master cylinder to the rear axle T where it then goes left and right.
