Has any of you guys had any success in cutting a laminated windscreen.
I'm looking to cut about 2" to 3" from the screen of my ragtop and this is the first job to do before I start cutting the car...
You will need to diamond cut both sides of the screen as accurately as possible. Poor a small amount of meths on to the cut area and set it alight, only let it burn for a few secs enough to melt the laminated center , then just seperate the two pieces. Its one of those jobs that looks very easy, but is an aquired knack.
Have you witnessed this in action,
What about the curve of the screen?
I once seen a choped saloon that had the full size screen sliped through a slot cut into the top of the dash.(double points for thinking outside the box)
The screen that i am going to use is the laminated type,
I have a damaged one at hand and will be using this to practice on before a buy fresh one .
I want to cut the screen and then cut the car to suit,as it is easier to cut metal than glass...
hi gas i dont know if you have seen marmite he has a 5"roof chop i had problems getting the glass cut i rang up my local glass cutter i saw him cut the new windscreen i would not use a second hand one it only cost me £15 to have it cut +new windscreen neil
