If it has an alternator, it is possibly already -ve earth. Have a look in Technical tips on the LHS of the page.
Since your car is (possibly) a panda car, could you have a look at the chassisnumber and the engine number?
The last of the panda cars had alternators as standard, used of course for the extra load of the siren and lights, when catching thieves!

Not sure what the K stands for but the L means it's a low compression engine and therefore likely to be the original one. Police cars tended to be low compression as then they could run on 2 star
so does anyone know whats entailed in makeing it neg earth ?
I vaguely remember being told its a simple job of flashing it to be the way I want but I dont remember with enough detail to go out and do it
I need to convert as I have a whole heap of smiths gauges and I want a rev counter and temp gauge aswell as a stereo and an alarm as my area sucks and the security of the moggy make my mini look secure since I use my mini keys on the minor 99% of the time
