Best source of info for Trav' woodwork?

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a particular book or other source of info' about the construction of the Trav' rear bodywork and replacement of part or all of the wood frame?

Practical tips on how to tackle the job and avoid the pitfalls would be useful.

The only specific book is
Practical Classics Minor Traveller Restoration
It was published in 1994 ISBN 1 873098 30 8 by Kelsy publishing Limited.
The only drawback is its a very desirable book and when one does come up on Ebay it can go for over £40 such is its popularity/scarcity.

Steve Foreman has written several articles and will email them if you ask him. I replaced the waist rail on mine and his instuctions were very good and full of of acurate measurements.

I agree that Practical Classics on Morris Minor Restoration is good, I got mine for £9 from Amazon. I just looked on the Amazon site and the ones on currently are £25

The Lindsay Porter The Guide to Purchase and DIY Restoration Morris Minor and 1000 - is the other one I have which is pretty helpful.

Both books outline the process of removing and replacing the woodwork, both have pictures of the process but both are black and white and not always as clear as I'd like.

The other similarity is that it is the same guy (Barry Brewer at the MM Centre in Bath) who is featured doing the renovation in both books!.

Practical Classics Morris Minor Restoration and Practical Classics Minor Traveller Restoration are two separate books. Amazon don't currently have any copies of the Traveller one listed.

Ooops - sorry about that - I wasnt aware of a specific Prac Class Trav book. The ones I mentioned have been helpful to me.

I've ordered the Lindsay Porter from the library, unfortunately they do not stock the PC Traveller book. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

The trav' needs some of the woodwork done. I'm not sure how far to go yet which is why I wanted to get an idea of what it involves.

The much discussed PC Traveller book may be virtually unobtainable now but the gist of its content was published in four successive issues of Practical Classics. These were December 1982 through March 1983; four pages per issue with many photos, in B&W of course! You may find these on ebay, if not the book.(I have these back issues and many others, but hope to add them as a sweetener to help the sale of my 1969 traveller, together with the BMC workshop manual etc!)
If you are desperate I could probably get the relevant pages photocopied for you at the corner shop.

The Lindsay Porter book is quite useful and Steve Foreman kindly sent me his info' sheets.

Eric, I will look out for the specific issues of PC - I'm sure they will crop up on Ebay at some point.

Just got to decide how far I need to go, take a deep breath and .............
