You'll probably find if you're doing OK with it it's because of the primer you're using
That was my conclusion as well, and with RO primer being cheaper than hammerite it makes sense to make the first coat red oxide.

I'm stripping a car back down to bare chassis and intend to get the chassis blasted. I'd like to protect it from rust and end up with the chassis finishd in black.

I have used BONDA primer + zinc on all the body panels after blasting, so I presume I should do the same with the chassis then paint the chassis with a Chassis Black followed by a coat of Waxoyl ?

or is there a better way ...
thanks

Do you mean a car as the LCV are the only ones with a seperate chassis, unless you are going to have the whole body blasted which may nut be a good idea if some areas are suspect.

No, its not a MMinor, its a 50's Sunbeam Talbot with a seperate chassis etc but it suffers from the same rust problems. So I thought you guys could offer advice ?

Well, sounds like a good plan, what you suggested yourself.
One thing; please do ALL the welding before applying ANY waxoil, as it is quite flammable :D

As I said Kevin, "This site must have a good reputation  :D "

By the way, I have always been a great believer in red oxide primer :D

remember to inject the chassis members with dinitrol or similar to protect against rust eating outwards :)

thanks guys, still along way to go .. but I'll get there http://alpine.letusfixit.co.uk/

PS In my youth whilst working for British Telecommunications as it was then, ( actually it was The Post Office when I joined ) I used to drive a green MM van then a yellow one everyday for 2 years. Loved it. Especially the engine noise on overrun .. it always made me think I was Jackie Stewart 8)
