In this day and age of selling data to marketing companies, it's more likely they've binned the Minor and sold the number...
- nice...

But 'reconditioned' and 'ebay' are not words often seen in the same sentence!

Well i have totally given up with this garage now!
I have just bought a reconditioned engine and gearbox and i am going to collect it tommorrow evening.
Especially of the problem is only as mentioned
The relief valve is at the rear of the block behind the dizzy and just below
the oil pipe which leads to the filter. It is a large DOMED nut and,if your chosen garage don't know about it I would follow BMCs advice and get that
car out of there pronto.
Why are you staying with the that garage when you yourself said
I will then take them both to the garage so they can swap them both over. I hope this is something they can do.
I am not being funny but I think `Bodge It & Scarper Ltd` would have been more use as this lot are definatly as much use as a chocolate teapot, have you not been in contact with your local branch for local advice on who to use.

Sorry about the soapbox rant but I do feel you are being led down the garden path as this lot are obviously replacement fitters and not mechanics, no offense meant to either trade.
Cheers

And why not then? It is often said in adverts.

Maybe not where you live 8)

Because ebay is often the last resort for stuff that won't sell anywhere else!! Not always true of course - hopefully this will be a fully reconditioned unit in excellent order and Mr Lexus's engine problems will be gone for ever!

What size?

Might have a 948 in believed good condition (well, it's clean and painted, and turns freely)...

You could always swap the flywheel...

Is your engine totally toast, or could various parts be thrown at it? I've got an unknown condition 1098 kicking around too...

Which of the many problems? I have got Packedups 948, which now has a 1098 cam, and might get a 12G202 head.

Not in the car yet though, but I am working on that :D

Would now be a good time (given your problems stripping it) to mention I've been told that engine had a brand new oil pump fitted while it was on that bench..? ;)

Though as I'm sure you can imagine, the source of that info is less than 100% reliable!

Be intrigued to find out how it runs when done :)

That oil pump that was in there had quite some experience I thought. Well, it was quite a "challenge" to get it out. Had to remove the cam and hit it from behind :D
Which in a way is excellent, because this way I learn all the things about these A-series and sidevalvers.

even a standard 948 in good condition is a decent performer (for a minor). On the Isle of Wight trip, we had a couple of 948 cars and they had no trouble keeping up with the 1098cc engined cars.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

948 is much smoother apparently. I will give this new engine some tlc, and swap it with my current one.
