Pick-up back panel

I remember seeing a while ago a fibreglass back panel for the pick-up.
Is it still avaliable and if so where from ?

As far as I know, it isn't any more. If you fancy a steel one, I can help. I'm supposed to be putting up pics of the ones I'm selling anyway - I will this evening.

I could be interested but you might find it sacriliege with what my plans would be for it ;-)

Bascially I bough an old Daihatsu Fourtrak recently just as an engine donor for my CJ-5 Jeep.
The Daihatsu has a mint chassis and mechanicals but totally rotten body so I've decided to sell the unstarted Jeep project and rebody the Fourtrak instead.

There is only one, current, manufacturer of a kit car body to fit on the Daihatsu and that is unattractive (as well as very expensive).
Looking at my Morris convertible I've done a bit of measuring and reckon I could fabricate my own body.
The initial idea is a pick-up front with a flat bed rear. The wheelbase is longer than a Morris Minor so a full body isn't a feasible plus a pick-up is more useful for me.
I'm thinking that a two door front would make a more roomy cab than an original pick-up item so would adapt one rather than trying to source a proper cab.

Forget the actual mounting of the body but is it possible to use a pick-up back on a two door saloon to make a larger then standard pick-up cab ?

Possible in the sense that anything is, but a LOT of work sorting out the join between cab and cab-back. I'm planning on using a traveller cab one day for the same reason. Worth a thought?

You will need to extend the chassis as well.....................not easy

yep agreed but then the side panels etc... also need to be cut and new mounting brakets for the extended cab!

What is the problem with ther standard LCV cab?

No problem as such, but I want to build one with a little more room - and have a traveller roof lying about. Partially for that, partially for the challenge, and (if I chop the roof slightly) partially for the thrill of customisation :D It's all a LONG way off, anyway.

I have a mate doing the same thing Andrew and I think his progress is only slightly ahead of yours.
