Pic request of wiring loom switches + question....Help!

Post by heathy12 »

Right, just going to go out and re-attach some of the wires from my new wiring loom to my car then im going to fit a second hand torsion bar I picked up from the scrappy yesterday to see if I can lower the car some what (got about a half foot of spacce between wing and 17" wheels!)

Could anyone possibly post up or list the coloured wires that fit into the switches for a standard minor, any model please. Wanna double check before I plug the battery in!

Also if running a + earth car, is it possible to wire up a new fuse box to the battery round the modern way (- earth) and run a modern sterio without tapping into the rest of the cars electrics???!?

Wish me luck guys, im going in! Any pics most appreciated, Hate wiring!

Ta BigGinger.
I know how to change polarity, I was wondering if you can wire up a conventional modern sterio to the battery with the rest of the car still with + earth???

If you insulate the whole thing then yes, you can. You'll also have to reverse the ariel wires (core and outer), as the outer goes to earth and also earths through the stereo/ casing. If you're not bothered about radio then that side can be ignored, simply don't plug the ariel in :)

Unless there's an exceptionally good reason, you may as well just go neg earth though IMO.

Sorry - yes, as above you can, but run a fire risk if any metal part of the stereo contacts the car. I'd go -ve earth too :D
