Bonnet Fit

Post by RogerRust »

What is the story with the bonnet style, Sophies bonnet looks as if it has been cut to fit at the back under the Morris 1000 logo. I understand that there are two types of bonnet. Should the cut out be just a sharp edge or is this a bodge up? Do I need a early or late hood? The car is early '61.

I presume the correct item has a neat folded edge rather that a cut one???

If so Iam looking for an original bonnet with a cutout.

Roger.

I'm guessing that mine has been modified, I hope they arn't all like mine!

Does it have the cut out rear edge like this one that hasn't been done with tin snips.?

If so hold on to it and I'll try and get down your way.

I haven't battled through to the saloon one yet, but all of the LCV ones that I can reach (3) have a plain cut metal edge, if that's any help.

Some one will along soon to point out the correct configuration. - Perhaps it was just trimmed to fit.
Cam where are you when we need you?

By the way Andrew the solar panels reached 141 Celsius today the pump stops at 99 to prevent the tank boiling, but its a pressurised system so the primary circuit doesn't boil.

I got mine from http://www.solarsense.co.uk/

Roger the area you are describing is just cut steel and not a folded edge, probably to allow for small tweeks in adjustment, where material can be removed, not possible if its a folded edge  (or should I say more difficult)

bonnet

I can confirm that the bonnet edge is just a cut edge from painful experience!
During my rebuild the edge you describe came down on my little finger and
severed the nerves so that I cannot straighten the finger any more!!
