What size camshaft sprocket nut?

Post by Axolotl »

Can anyone tell me what size the camshaft timing sprocket nut on a late series 1098cc engine is? (or what possible sizes it could be?). I am about to fit a new timing chain and sprockets, and want to make sure I have the right tools before I have the engine in bits!

From memory (NB) it's the same size as the starter dog, 3/4 Whitworth. I'll check again in a bit :D

3/4 whit I agree - but its very thin so you need a good socket or ring spanner.

Thanks, lucky I have a 3/4" whitworth combi spanner on order for the starter dog then. I can't find anyone selling a 3/4" ww socket, so the ring spanner will have to do.
