what sizing systems were used for the screws, nuts and bolts used in the manufacture of a Morris Minor 1000? The types available are bewildering and I want to be sure that if I buy a replacement for any fixing I am definitely getting the right size. I know that there were often a mixture of sizing systems used in a single car, and of course I'm aware that in the thirty-five years since my van was made garages may have substituted fixings of a different sizing system again....
All the above - and add Whitworth to the list as well. It's a pain, but it's true. Didn't realise that yours was a '71 Have you got that alloy piece from Dennis yet?

I think you're flogging a dead horse with that one. You are severely outnumbered! There seem to be more and more travellers around at the moment too (or is it just me?).

Should I be looking at UNF? UNC? BSF? BSW?
As a general rule, the mechanicals are UNF & the body is BSF.
Initially, 99% of nuts & bolts were BSF when the Series MM was introduced. There are a couple of exceptions to this though.
The Austin mechanicals were UNF & stayed that way in the Minor body when the Series II came along.
