The Beginning

Well I have been able to get the old truck out and to the shop and I am ready to start a list for ordering parts. If anyone has any suggestions of easily missed parts which are usually needed to a get pickup back to glory I would appreciate any help. I am hoping to get one pallet shipped and avoid the oops I forgot scenarios that often come up, after all, parts will likely take the slow boat from England to Alaska, at least it will seem that way.

Also any advice on replacing the rubber seal in the roof seam? I have a good body man, however he is reluctant to try this as he was born after the truck.


I would love to attach a picture for advice, however I am computer naive...this is especially for Andrew as he seems to love any pickup

Gah! You spotted that! There's a bit about picture posting here = http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/index.ph ... pic&t=9028 - and like Lee, I'm more than happy to host the pictures if you need me to. As for the roof seal, I've not fitted a new one (though I have to very soon). My main concern is making the bolt holes reasonably neatly, as the new one doesn't have them. Then I'm going to be relying on mastic to waterproof the body/rubber joint. I'll let you know how it goes when I've had a go

Where abouts are you? How do you deal with the winter cold with a minor? (Just curious because two of us Bristolians are planning a move to Canada - not quite as cold but still colder than here!)

too late PyoorKate has found me and we have had a wonderful chat

We are in the southcentral part of Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula in Homer. We haven't driven the minor much lately, but used to quite a bit. It will haul a snowmobile and can be great fun. The cold doesn't bother the pickup much. Normal temperatures here range from the teens to 40's in the winter and 50's to about 70 in the summer, quite moderate really for Alaska.
