how to clean my steering wheel?

Post by wibble_puppy »

hey guys,

my steering wheel has been through hell as it's been in the van all through the blasting, metalworking and respraying process :-?

it's a standard late minor black two-spoke wheel :)

i want to clean it and restore it to its original pristine condition

how do i do this? white spirit?

grateful for any advice!

How bad is it Juliet has the finish been damaged as it may be easier to geta replacment you can pick the later ones up quite cheap.

hmmmm welll not sure yet, it's still at the paintshop along with the van..... i've yet to be able to really examine it well but i think it's smears of paint and grime, plus masking tape glue :-?

obviously i'm keen to keep it if i can, after all if it's the original one then it's one of the few visible original parts remaining!!

i'm just wondering what cleaning agents are safe to use on that finish, if you see what i mean :)

Hi Juliet, I've used T-Cut and elbow grease before now to get grime and paint overspray off a steering wheel before now and it works quite well, gives it quite a nice shine to afterwards.
